The Librarian I, Youth Servcies Division is a full-time entry level position, focusing on children and teens. This position performs a wide range of professional services, including, but not limited to, reference and reading guidance for patrons of all ages, materials selection, program planning and presentation, community outreach, teport writing.
This current opening is in the Technical Services Division of the Library. Under general supervision, performs a variety of paraprofessional support duties related to the Children’s, Reference and Technical Services; performs related duties as required. This position may require you to work nights and/or weekends.
This is a part-time, at-will position with benefits. Under immediate supervision, the Library Technician I performs a variety of clerical work in support of the various library services and functions; types, sorts, duplicates, and files cards and other materials; maintains a variety of records. Operates a variety of office machines including computers, laminator, cash registers, copiers, and performs other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Job Summary: the Librarian II (Children’s Services) supervises services for babies, preschoolers and elementary school-aged youth at the Main Library; supervises professional staff; schedules the youth reference desk; monitors budget expenditures; manages the children’s summer reading program system-wide; maintains expertise in youth services trends and in children’s literature for collection development and readers’ advisory; collaborates with schools, city and community partners for outreach on children’s and family services. NOTE: Librarian II positions may be required to work evenings and weekends.
